Making a difference while honoring and remembering loved ones.

The Johnson Legacy Project was established in 2021 by their family after their deaths in 2009 and 2020.

With the anniversary of their birthdays approaching, the family looked for ways to uplift, educate and support the residents in the Cleveland neighborhoods where they lived, worked, and played.

Our Story

The Johnson Legacy Project began with an idea and mission to provide good works to and for the people of Northeast Ohio. Founded right before the COVID-19 outbreak of 2020, our work began helping out the community in a variety of ways as needs arose.

During the early days of COVID-19, we distributed masks to essential workers and supported local organizations with the distribution of vaccine codes. We even spruced up headstones at local cemeteries before Mother’s and Father’s Day in an attempt to lighten the load for families preparing to go through their first Mother’s or Father’s Day without their loved ones.

As time went we narrowed our focus to be more impactful with our support. We hosted Common Ground conversations, book clubs, and started our coffee and conversation listening sessions.

Current objectives and focus of work

The Johnson Legacy Project’s objectives are:

  • to provide services and opportunities for Cleveland’s underserved communities.

  • to dissemination information for under-represented and marginalized communities

  • support our next generation of Clevelanders with career exploration, internships and connecting them with local small businesses

  • to support Cleveland’s small business ecosystem

  • bring people together to do service projects and fellowship
